SO YOU WANT TO BE EDGY

So you want to be edgy (at the forefront of a trend; experimental or avant-garde).

Being intelligent, kind, empathetic and sexy are all good but edgy is the shit. Why be edgy? Being edgy is what makes you stand out from the crowd. But how?

Start by finding out which edgy inspiration is for you:

Hunter S. Thompson edgy? (Opinionated journalist, cultural icon, alcoholic)
Nicki Minaj edgy? (Influential bubblegum rapper with implants)
Michael Phelps edgy? (23 Olympic gold medals, son named Boomer, death stare)
Obama edgy? (Coolest President)

Being edgy means finding inspiration from other edgy people, then using that inspiration to embrace your own edginess (daringly innovative; on the cutting edge). It means being tough without being mean. It means being stylish without being trendy.

You are not a brand (a type of product manufactured by a particular company under a particular name). You are not an ideal (satisfying one’s conception of what is perfect). You ARE an individual with cool style (something you’re born with) and intelligence (same). If you’re edgy you’ll think “this article is whatever” and if you’re not edgy you might feel threatened because telling you to throw out all the rules might scare you to death. And while I can’t tell you HOW to be edgy I can tell you the following life experiences help:

General hardship.
World travel.
Dogs.
Doing a series of embarrassing and scary things.
Difficult relationships.
Higher education.
Disasters.

Instead of seeking a tornado, find the stuff in you that makes you feel alive and your edge will emerge. You will rock (move gently to and fro, from side to side).
